Water Safety Courses

In the United States, drowning is the seventh leading cause of unintentional injury deaths for

all ages and the second leading cause of all injury deaths, each year, for children 1 to 14 years old.

In 2005, there were 3,582 fatal unintentional drownings, averaging ten deaths per day. For every child who dies from drowning, another four received emergency department care for nonfatal submersion injuries (Center of Diseases Control, 2008).
